Listen to Me Satan!

Title: Listen to Me Satan!
Author:Carlos Annacondia
Genre: Christian Living

Ok, do you ever wonder if extreme miracles ever really do happen? Have you ever watched an alcoholic sober up in an instant? Have you ever seen a suicidal person suddenly recover from depression and find reason for living? I personally have not seen those things but I do believe that they can happen. My faith was went to a deeper level after reading these true stories of Carols Annacondia.

After the testimony of Carlos and his wife is told in the book, the dramatic story of how God has used this man to literally drive back the demonic forces of hell. I have personally been in one of his services and have witnessed first hand the power that the Lord has granted this man, and others from the Argentine revival.

This book will definitely give you a boost in faith. I long for these things to happen in my day and in my own country. Oh yes, you might have a different opinion of frogs after reading this book. I know I do!

Pearl

Title: Pearl
Author: Lauraine Snelling
Genre: Romance

Pearl is the second book in a series about the Dakota Territory. If you want to read a book about a teacher named Pearl from the east who is running away from her Father and an arranged marriage, don't read this book. Although that’s exactly what this book is supposed to be about, it is really just a continuation of the first book Ruby. Pearl is merely a character added to the story to take the important attention off the interesting characters. Pearl does meet a man but the relationship isn't developed properly and I never knew for sure (except by deductive reasoning; he was single, she was single) if they actually liked each other. I guess he was supposed to be the strong silent type since they never really had a conversation. According to the back of the book her father was supposed to come after her and it was going to be a major crisis. But when he came to demand her home, her hero stepped in (saying more than he's ever said) and the dad left without a fight or resolving the issues (rather weak conflict). In the end two couples get married but it’s not quite clear which two since there are about three possibilities.

No worries though, Ruby's story continues on without a conclusion, since she may or may not have gotten married and the next book is about her sister. I look forward to reading the next book if only to put myself out of my misery, or perhaps it is more likely to prolong it. I'm only glad I skipped the first book since I learned, with a lot less reading, everything that happened in it by the author retelling it all. I fear though I may buy it anyway just to have a complete series to give away to an unsuspecting relative or unfortunate friend. Misery loves company....anyone have a b-day coming up?....

The Chairman

Title: The Chairman
Author: Harry Lee Kraus, Jr.
Genre: Fiction

This is a story about Abby and Nathan McAllister. Nathan is a policeman in the quaint little town of Fishers Retreat when a bullet changes his life for ever. He survives the gunshot wound, but is bound to life in a wheelchair as a quadriplegic. To make the stress mount higher is the fact that his marriage was already on the rocks, and now the challenge to make his wife fall in love with him all over again are much greater.

However, the love story is only a subplot to the greater mystery of a break in at the laboratory of Dr. Hannah, Chairman of Surgery at Brighton University. Somehow Nathan McAllisters name is is linked with this break in, even though the two men have never met.

The story is also about Dr. Hannah' daughter, Paige who is home for the summer and as a recent high school graduate, is working through the pressures "what to do with my life now". As the plots of the story get more tangled with each other, various characters meet Jesus Christ, then answers to their life questions begin to evolve.

This was the first book I have read by Dr. Kraus and would like to read more of his writings in the future. He has also written Stainless Steal Hearts, Fated Genes, Lethal Mercy, and The Stain.

Total Forgiveness

Title: Total Forgiveness
Author: R.T. Kendall
Genre: Christian Living/Personal Growth

Well, the Lord Himself tells us to forgive people seventy times seven. This is not the easiest task for us to accomplish as humans. I'm so glad this book has been written to help the "Average Joe" come to a place where we can truly forgive people and know a deeper freedom in our own spiritual walk.

Dr. Kendall gives solid answers and covers topics such as "The Art of Forgiving and Forgetting" and "How to Know I have Totally forgiven". The book doesn't merely give you a crutch, but teaches the concept of forgiveness and gives you a game plan if you struggle in this area.

Because Jesus Christ Himself has totally forgiven me for everything, I want to do all I can to make sure I can excel in the area of forgiving others. It is a book I plan on reading more than once.
