Springtime Reads

Today I enjoyed 2 hours of free time while my daughter attended a birthday party. So, armed with a couple of Barns & Noble gift cards from Christmas and a book to be returned, I decided to venture through the aisles of B&N with no hindrances whatsoever with the exception of a 2 hour time limit. Very do-able.

The books I picked for springtime reading are:

Magdalene by Angela Hunt. Another biography of Mary Magdalene, but I had to buy it becuase I'm becoming an Angela Hunt fan. She has never let me down yet. The book is brand new this year and I can't wait to sink my teeth into this historical fiction.

Blink by Ted Dekker. I actually started reading this book last summer, but it was a library book and I was re-locating out of state and had to return the book. Alas- I have no idea how it ended. But I don't think anyone can own too many different Ted Dekker books so this one will join my library. It's about an extremely smart and "gifted" man who must rescue an Arabian princess. It's faced paced, as most Dekker books are, with an age old tale that is as current as today's headlines. Another one I'm anxious to finish!

Grace in Thine Eyes by Liz Curtis Higgs. I've been waiting almost 2 years for this book to come out! Taking place in Scotland in the spring of 1808 this historical fiction is actually a re-telling of Dinah's story in Genesis 34. I ccan’t wait to see what happens to Jamie & Leanna's daughter Davina.

I'll be posting reviews as I finish the books, but if you pick them up and read them before me, let me know what you think!

Three

Title: Three
Author: Ted Dekker
Genre: Fiction/Suspence

Kevin is driving along the highway when his cell phone rings. The caller tells him that he has 3 minutes to contact the press and confess his sin to the world. Panic strikes Kevin and he ditches the car in the Walmart parking lot. Exactly 3 minutes later, his car explodes and Kevin’s life is turned upside down for the next 4 days.

Being tormented by Slater, befriended by Jennifer, and loved by Samantha, Kevin’s life will never be the same again. An abusive past meets normalcy and what is real is the mystery to be solved.

Three is a masterful tale with twists and turns and will promise to keep the reader on the edge of his seat until the very last chapter. Just when you think you have the story solved, Ted Dekker takes the plot to the next level of good versus evil.

Be sure to pick up Ted Dekkers current novel co-authored with Frank Peretti, House. There is also a link to Ted Dekkers website on the left side of this blog page.
