The Proposal

Title: The Proposal
Author: Angela Hunt
Genre: Fiction

Theo Russell is 32 years old. She is a widow. She is a mother. She is a writer. And certain, influential, people will stop at nothing to make sure she does not write her latest book.

While at a writer’s convention, a simple case of mistaken identity lands Theo a business meeting of a lifetime with an editor from Howarth House. However, the fast talking editor does not realize she is discussing the book with a different author of the same name.

The Howarth House editor gives Theo a copy of a book proposal she did not at all write, but intrigues her interest nonetheless. Apparently, the famous “Theo Russell” has discovered a link between breast cancer and abortion. Since breast cancer has a prevalent history in Theo’s family, she is determined to find out the facts no matter what the cost may be. As Theo uncovers the rest of the facts that the “original Theo Russell” never found out, her new book idea continues to germinate.

Angela Hunt does a marvelous job at intertwining facts with a fictitious story. Although the characters in this book are indeed fiction as well as the plot and story line itself, the message still rings true today. Research has shown that abortion is an avoidable risk of breast cancer, yet the media, and medical associations do not want the public to be aware of this. Ms. Hunt has a helpful authors introduction in the front and her bibliography is listed in the back of the book.

This fast paced novel certainly kept me up at night and on the edge of my chair. Because I’ve read some other Angela Hunt novels before, I knew that the ending could very well surprise me. With that in mind, I actually turned and scanned the last page for peace of mind! (That is something I never do!) I wanted to thank my good friend Jessica B. for introducing me to such a fine author.

By the way, the ending was….oh, just read the book!
