The Chairman

Title: The Chairman
Author: Harry Lee Kraus, Jr.
Genre: Fiction

This is a story about Abby and Nathan McAllister. Nathan is a policeman in the quaint little town of Fishers Retreat when a bullet changes his life for ever. He survives the gunshot wound, but is bound to life in a wheelchair as a quadriplegic. To make the stress mount higher is the fact that his marriage was already on the rocks, and now the challenge to make his wife fall in love with him all over again are much greater.

However, the love story is only a subplot to the greater mystery of a break in at the laboratory of Dr. Hannah, Chairman of Surgery at Brighton University. Somehow Nathan McAllisters name is is linked with this break in, even though the two men have never met.

The story is also about Dr. Hannah' daughter, Paige who is home for the summer and as a recent high school graduate, is working through the pressures "what to do with my life now". As the plots of the story get more tangled with each other, various characters meet Jesus Christ, then answers to their life questions begin to evolve.

This was the first book I have read by Dr. Kraus and would like to read more of his writings in the future. He has also written Stainless Steal Hearts, Fated Genes, Lethal Mercy, and The Stain.
