Covenant Child

Title: Covenant Child
Author: Terri Blackstock
Genre: Fiction

Let me start off by saying, this is the best book I have read in a long time! I read it cover to cover in two days and just could not put it down.

The story is about two twin girls, Kara and Lizzie. Kara tells the story in first person.

Soon after the girls are born, their mother is killed in a car accident. They continue to live with their father and they are the pride and joy of his life. Their father, Jack Holbrook, is the son of Paul Holbrook the billionaire, and is set to inherit the entirety of his father’s estate upon his death.

Three years later Jack Holbrook marries Amanda the four of them live happily as a family- but just for a few short months. Jack Holbrook’s death, along with the sudden death of his parents come extremely unexpected and lives of Amanda, Lizzie and Kara turn upside down.

A custody battle rips Lizzie and Kara away from the only world they have ever known and they are thrown into a life of lies and abuse. Only when they are eighteen years of age will they ever have a way out- if they choose to accept and believe.

Will the twins be able to accept a gift of grace? Will they be able to trade in the lies they have been told for fifteen years and accept this newfound hope?

Terry Blackstock beautifully weaves this contemporary novel into a modern day parable of the love our heavenly Father has for us. This book would also be an excellent choice for a book club or discussion group.
