Blink

Title: Blink
Author: Ted Dekker
Genre: Fiction/Suspense

Seth Borders is a grad student at Berkeley, but nothing about him is average. For starters, his I.Q. rivals Einstein and suddenly this new gift spins him into a world of mystery, foreign culture, suspense and ultimately, God. What is this gift? Seth has the ability to see multiple, potential, futures.

One night finds him at an awards ceremony accepting one of the most prestigious awards Berkeley presents, but before the night is over, he is set to rescuing a Saudi Arabian Princess. On a race that takes Princess Miriam and Seth off the university campus and through the dessert of California and Nevada, Seth uses this gifting to evade those meant to harm Miriam and prevent a military coup in the middle east. Unfortunately, Seth's weakness is his lack of sleep, but with hit men from the middle east after him, a beautiful, fugitive princess at his side and the U.S. government breathing down his neck, sleep continues to elude Seth making escape more difficult.

Seemingly, things calm down and Miriam is delivered into the hands of safety and Seth is now assisting the government on military moves (as a compromise for his semi-illegal actions). However, things heat up once again, only this time the race is on Saudi Arabian soil. Here Seth will face his biggest challenge yet. Will he and Miriam be able to put their future into the hands of a God they can't see?

This book is excellent! Ted Dekker has his usual depth along with story line that really makes you think. Although I'll never be able to comprehend all of Gods attributes, it's fun to dig a little deeper and explore the fact that God really does hold the future in His hand, and nothing happens without Him allowing it. The novel itself isn't too long and only has 389 pages and covers about 14 days. The plot moves along quickly, but is easily understandable. The one thing that may be confusing are all the names of the (fictional) political characters from Saudi Arabia.

I looked forward to reading this book every single time I picked it up and couldn't wait to see what would happen next. Thanks so much Ted!

Blink was a pretty good book. I just finished reading Magdalene. That was pretty good too. On to the next!

Blink was an awesome read, just finished it

I was relieved when Seth finally got over that inconsistency about his abilities disproving God's divinity... that would have been a hole in the plot!

looking forward to reading Ted Dekker's "Thr3e"
